Third year of the Bachelor’s degree
The overall aim of the Bachelor 3 in Management, specialising in Banking and Finance, is to provide students with a solid foundation in law, finance, economics, accountancy and quantitative techniques, which are essential for progressing to a Master’s degree in Finance. The programme also introduces students to banking and financial techniques and supports them in developing a career plan within the banking, finance and insurance sectors.
As part of the ATS Preparatory Course, the programme has a specific focus: to prepare students for the direct entry examinations into Master’s degree 1 (the second year of the Grande École programme) at business schools, as well as for selective university Master’s programmes in finance and management. This programme thus offers a two-fold preparation: on the one hand, the acquisition of high-level academic and professional skills; on the other, specific methodological and subject-specific preparation for the entrance examination papers, enabling students to considerably broaden their prospects for further study.
As part of the ATS Preparatory Programme, students benefit from a unique programme run jointly by the Gaston Berger Campus and the IAE Lille. They attend around twenty hours of classes per week at the Gaston Berger Campus, focusing on methodology, critical thinking, general knowledge and specific preparation for the entrance examinations based on academic qualifications, enabling them to progress directly to the first year of Master’s programmes at leading business schools and selective university Master’s programmes.
The remainder of the time is devoted to university-level teaching at the IAE, ensuring a solid grounding in finance whilst developing a high-level, broad-based approach.
To complete their academic programme, students must also undertake a work placement lasting at least two months, which enables them to apply what they have learnt in a real-world professional setting and tofurther develop their career plans.
The full training programme is available in the downloadable brochure.
On completion of the Bachelor’s degree in Banking and Finance, students can progress to various Master’s degree 1 programmes in Finance offered at IAE Lille:
They can also apply for a wide range of highly competitive university Master’s degree programmes in management in France and abroad.
The ATS Preparatory Programme opens up further opportunities: it enables students to sit the entrance examinations for business schools via the‘admission on the basis of qualifications’ route, in order to progress directly to Master’s degree 1 (the second year of the Grande École programme), without having to complete the pre-Master’s year. This pathway thus serves as a genuine springboard to both the Grandes Écoles and the most selective university Master’s programmes, considerably broadening students’ options for further study.
The Bachelor 3 in Banking and Finance is aimed at students with a solid foundation in financial mathematics, statistics, economics, law and management, acquired during the first two years of the degree; these prerequisites are essential for successfully undertaking the advanced modules taught in the third year. A good command of English is also expected, given the importance of English-language academic and professional literature in this field. Applicants must also demonstrate a career plan consistent with the programme’s career prospects.
Forthe ATS Preparatory Course, admission is specifically aimed at students who hold a two-year post-A-level qualification in management (BTS, BUT or L2), who wish to acquire both the fundamental skills in finance and management and the methodological preparation required to sit the entrance examinations based on academic qualifications for the leading business schools or for selective university Master’s programmes.
Admission takes place in two stages: an application review, followed by a motivational interview designed to assess whether the student’s profile and objectives are a good fit for the programme, as well as their potential to succeed on a demanding course. Applications must be submitted exclusively via the eCandidat platform, accompanied by the required supporting documents.
